The Silica Exposure Rule from OSHA requires all contractors to:
Have a written Silica Exposure Plan
Have an assigned Competent Person
The assigned Competent Person must be able to identify a silica hazard, have the authority to implement corrective measures and have knowledge of the company’s Silica Exposure Plan.
The SMA February membership meeting will cover Silica Exposure for Stucco and Adhered Masonry tasks. Contractor members of the SMA Silica Compliance Program can stay after the meeting to take a test and, upon a passing grade, will receive a “Competent Person“ card to verify completion. This card has been used and assisted other contractors who have been visited by OSHA compliance. Do not miss out on this opportunity — space is limited. Sign up now.
